Hi, we’re Guadalupe and Josué, and we are the parents of a 26 year old daughter and Ángel, our son who came into our lives when we thought it was no longer possible.
For a long time, we believed that because we had already had a child, getting pregnant again would be easy. We thought it would just be a matter of trying… but that moment never came.
Over time, it wasn’t just our desire, our daughter also started asking for a little sibling. That made our dream grow even stronger. But as the months passed, we began to realize that something wasn’t right.
In the middle of that journey, I went through one of the hardest moments of my life: an ectopic pregnancy. I remember when they told me, “you’re pregnant,” I felt like the happiest woman in the world… but that happiness lasted only a few seconds, because right after that they told me there was nothing they could do and that they needed to focus on saving me.
From that moment on, everything changed. I lost one fallopian tube and one ovary, and very difficult years followed. I started developing very large cysts, which led to multiple surgeries. Every time I went into the operating room, it meant being fully opened, weeks of recovery, and starting all over again.
But the hardest part wasn’t just the physical pain.
It was emotional.
I blamed myself for everything. I felt like I was the problem, like my body was failing me. And on top of that, I had to face people’s questions: “so, when is the next baby coming?” No one really knew what we were going through.
There came a point when I just couldn’t take it anymore. The tests were painful, the attempts were frustrating, and the emotional exhaustion was overwhelming. I even told my husband that I didn’t want to continue, that I would just stay with my daughter.
But he never stopped supporting me.
That’s when I decided to do something different: to truly understand what was happening to me. I started researching, looking for answers, and that’s how we found Ingenes.
From the very first appointment, everything felt different. For the first time, someone really explained what I had, and more importantly, gave me a solution.
After so many surgeries, hearing that my cysts could be treated without opening me up was something I couldn’t believe. And it was true: I walked in and walked out the same day. That’s when I realized there was another way.
Step by step, we moved forward in the process. We learned, we understood, and most importantly, we regained hope.
One of the most meaningful moments of all was the embryo transfer. I will never forget that day. I was taken into a room with soft music, but inside I was praying, asking for everything to go well.
That’s when they showed us our embryos on a screen. They were small, but they were ours. The doctor told me to talk to them… and I did. I asked them to stay, told them we were waiting for them, that we had gone through so much to get to that moment.
That moment stayed with me forever.
And the most incredible part is that it worked on the first attempt.
That’s how Ángel came into our lives.
We named him Ángel because that’s exactly what he is to us: an angel. After everything we went through, all the tears, and all the times we thought it wouldn’t be possible, there he was, our son.
His arrival didn’t just change our family, it changed my life. Since then, I haven’t had to go through more surgeries or everything I experienced before. I feel different, stronger, more complete.
Today I understand that it wasn’t that I couldn’t… it was that I needed a different kind of help.
If I could say something to anyone going through something similar, it would be this: you are not alone, it’s not your fault, and your story is not over. Sometimes the path isn’t what we imagined, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get where you want to be.
Today, we are a family that didn’t give up. And every time we look at our son, we remember that everything, absolutely everything, was worth it.
