Mexican Egg and Sperm Bank
Our gamete bank in Mexico brings egg donation and the sperm cryobank together under one standard: thoroughly screened donors, full traceability, and an ethical, anonymous process.
A gamete bank is a highly specialized medical unit within Assisted Reproduction. At Ingenes it brings together two programs that share the same standard: egg donation and the sperm bank, also known as a cryobank.
The selection and screening of every donor rigorously follows the standards of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). All of them go through medical, psychological, and genetic testing before joining the bank, and every sample is stored with full traceability, from origin to destination.
- ASRM the standards that govern donor selection and screening
- 0-33 years old: the age range of our egg donors
- 0-32 years old: the age range of our sperm donors
- 0% anonymous: the donor's identity is always protected
An opportunity to give life
Egg donation is performed in combination with an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. The donated egg is fertilized in our specialized laboratory, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the mother's uterus, where it continues developing until birth.
It is an essential option for women facing reproductive challenges such as ovarian insufficiency, early menopause, or genetic conditions.
Your path is unique. So is your plan.
We design a protocol tailored to you after understanding your story and your previous tests. No generic diagnoses or protocols.
A cryobank for two different paths
The sperm bank handles collection, exhaustive analysis, cryopreservation (freezing at extremely low temperatures), and the meticulous clinical management of every sample.
Its samples are used in two situations: when the couple or the patient needs donor sperm, through anonymous donation, or when a patient wants to preserve their own fertility for the future.
- Donor sperm is used in treatments such as artificial insemination and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
- If you want to keep your fertility for later, learn about sperm freezing.
Four commitments behind every sample
They apply equally to eggs and sperm, before anything is released for a treatment.
-
ASRM standards
We follow the criteria of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in the selection and screening of every donor.
-
Comprehensive screening
Medical, psychological, and genetic studies, a complete clinical review, and family history analysis. Infectious disease screening covers HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis, among others.
-
Traceability and quarantine
A rigorous system tracks the origin of every sample, its handling, the cryopreservation date, and its destination. Samples stay in quarantine until the donor's test results are confirmed.
-
Anonymous donation
The identity of both the donor and the recipient is protected at all times, with total confidentiality and under current health and legal regulations.
When are donor gametes recommended?
Turning to donor eggs or sperm makes it possible to overcome reproductive obstacles and build the family you long for. It is mainly recommended in these cases:
- Low ovarian reserve or little response to stimulation
- Premature ovarian insufficiency or early menopause
- Low egg quality or low sperm quality
- Azoospermia, when no sperm cells are present in the sample
- Implantation failure or no pregnancy after three IVF cycles
- Recurrent pregnancy loss, with two or more consecutive miscarriages
- Maternal age over 40
- High risk of transmitting genetic diseases
- Single women and female couples who need donor sperm
If you identify with any of these cases, a donor gamete can offer you a real path toward your baby.
How do we select every donor?
Every applicant goes through an exhaustive evaluation: medical and psychological testing, a detailed survey of their personal background, lifestyle, and family medical history, and a complete clinical review. In some cases, genetic testing is also performed to minimize the risk of transmitting hereditary diseases.
Egg donors are between 18 and 33 years old; sperm donors, between 18 and 32. Each applicant is evaluated individually by fertility specialists, who determine whether they are eligible to join the bank.
- You can express your preferences regarding the donor's physical characteristics.
- Choosing traits similar to the mother's or the father's is recommended.
- The couple's blood type is taken into account to assign the most suitable donor.
