Success Rates: in Vitro Fertilization

Our priority, helping you bring a baby home

Every couple that may find themselves considering In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has the same dream: bringing a baby home. However, choosing a fertility center can be a difficult task. In order to help you make an informed decision, we want to share that Ingenes was the first fertility center in Mexico to publish its newborn rate on the web, which exceeds the average of fertility clinics in Latin America and the United States.

Live birth rates

Do you want to know what your chances are of achieving your dream with us?

Before diving into hard data, we want to share with you the success probabilities per cycle (attempt) that you have to achieve your baby with the least possible wear and tear:

On average, during the first cycle, we can achieve up to a 65% chance of having a baby. In a second cycle, we reach 75%, in the third cycle chances reach up to 85%, and in a fourth attempt, we accumulate up to a 96% chance, the highest success rate in Latin America.

It is important to mention that we are 240% above the average of clinics in Mexico that report to RedLara in terms of the number of treatments performed, so we are the fertility center with the largest market share in Mexico in terms of resolving high-complexity cases. In the following graph, you can compare the probabilities of having a baby in natural cycles vs. Ingenes cycles.

How to interpret fertility center success rates?

Because fertility clinics use different methods to measure their results, success rates can be misinterpreted when used to compare clinics or calculate the likelihood of having a baby in a specific case. These are divided into:

  • Pregnancy rate - determined by the percentage of embryo transfers that result in a positive pregnancy test. It is important to consider that a positive pregnancy test does not necessarily indicate the presence of a gestational sac or that it contains a fetus with a heartbeat.
  • Implantation rate - the percentage of gestational sacs observed by ultrasound relative to the total number of embryos transferred in a given period.
  • Clinical pregnancy rate - percentage of embryo transfers resulting in a gestational sac with a heartbeat.
  • Live birth rate - the probability of having at least one baby as a result of an embryo transfer after an IVF cycle or attempt.

Although pregnancy rates may seem more encouraging, they can be misleading because every pregnancy - whether natural or achieved through IVF treatment - has a risk of miscarriage of between 15 and 20%.

While achieving pregnancy is an important challenge, our commitment at Ingenes is for you to have a baby. That's why we show you the percentage of IVF cycles that resulted in the birth of a baby. Other factors you should consider when interpreting fertility center success rates are:

  • These rates vary considerably depending on a woman's age, so to calculate the probability of success that a clinic offers, you should pay attention to the number of births among women in your age group.
  • Success rates should consider all patients who underwent IVF treatment in a given period, not just a group of patients, as this could alter the truthfulness of the results.
  • Each IVF cycle represents an attempt, not a patient. For example, if a woman has undergone three cycles at a clinic, she should be counted three times in the statistics.
  • There is no mechanism that guarantees the authenticity of a fertility center's success rates. However, at Ingenes, honesty is one of our core values, and our success rates are currently in the process of certification by a notary public. Despite this, it is important to consider the trust you have in a fertility center and the recommendations of other doctors or patients when choosing a center.
  • In order to improve their results, some clinics reject patients with a low probability of success. In contrast, Ingenes is the fertility center with the largest market share in Mexico in terms of resolving high-complexity cases and takes pride in not excluding anyone.
